ABOUT THE ART &
PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW

Over more than 47 years, the Rotary Club of Leongatha Art & Photography Show has  become a major community event and one of the premier art  shows in Gippsland and regional Victoria. The event has grown from a 2 day event taking place over a weekend in early Spring, to 21 days during the peak of the summer in South Gippsland.

The show regularly attracts over 500 high quality entries from all over the region, Victoria and interstate to compete in sixteen award categories. Along with painting and photography, there are sections for young people,  All Abilities and an expanding range of 3D works.

With the assistance of our sponsors the we are able to award over $8,800 in prizes and awards. Many of our sponsors have been supporting the Art Show for many years.

This major art show attracts many visitors to our region. In 2023 one in five attendees at the Art Show were from the Melbourne metropolitan area. Visitors came from all mainland states and Tasmania. There were overseas visitors as well in 2023. Now that the show has established itself over a three week period in January and February we are attracting more people holidaying in the wider South Gippsland area.

All works entered into the art show are available for sale and the three week show format has lead to an increase in art purchases by visitors to the show.

The venue is the iconic Leongatha Memorial Hall, located at the corner of McCartin Street and Michael Place in Leongatha. Leongatha is just on 130 kilometers South East of Melbourne and is easily accessible to the Bass Coast region, the Latrobe Valley as well as East and West Gippsland.

The money raised from the Art and Photography Show through commissions on art sales, entry fees and raffle sales contribute to the support Rotary Club of Leongatha projects locally, nationally and internationally.

The Rotary Club of Leongatha is part of Rotary International and its charitable arm, the Rotary Foundation..
