Entry submission for the 2024 Art & Photography Show closed at 6:00pm on Friday 8 December 2023.

Artists were able to submit up to four (4) entries for showing and judging in the show. Artists can familiarise themselves with the 'Conditions of Entry' for our show displayed opposite.

2024 JUDGE BIOGRAPHY

David K Taylor (A.W.I. F.V.A.S.) 

Born in Melbourne in 1941, David currently lives on Phillip Island. He is recognised worldwide for his Art and Teaching.

 

David’s early career began in etching and a 6-year apprenticeship at the North Melbourne Printing School of Graphic Arts. Colour etching assisted in his future career as an artist painter.

                                                                 

David’s painting career expands on many years of studying the art of watercolour painting and he has been involved in teaching his great love of this medium to painters both in Australia and overseas since the late sixties.

He is a fellow member of the Victorian Artist Society Australia (F.V.A.S), Honoury Life Member Watercolour Society of Victoria Australia, Member of the Australian Watercolour Institute (A.W.I), Member of the Twenty Melbourne Painters Society Inc and Australian Guild of realist Artists (AGRA).

 

His work is represented in numerous public and private collections. His paintings have been exhibited widely, including the Channel Islands, Sweden, England, China, and Australia and many other countries.

 

His many major awards include:

Victorian Artist of the Year Medallion 1976, 1980, 1989.

Camberwell Rotary Silver medal 1976

Camberwell overseas Study Grant Scholarship 1979

Camberwell Rotary Silver Award 2007

Camberwell Rotary Gold Medal 2011, 2013, 2015

Silver Award Online International Watercolour Society Izmir Turkey 2015

David Taylor has also Judged many National and international Exhibitions. He is currently teaching online and judging in countries throughout the world.

 

David Taylor Continues to hold the flag for Watercolour and share his Knowledge and love for this art so it can be shared and enjoyed in our creative lives. This he does regularly each year sharing the magic of Watercolour across the world. His First Solo Exhibition was in 1975 and since then has held solo Exhibitions and Joint Exhibitions worldwide to this present Day.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

  1. Entry Fee of $10 for each entry, maximum four (4) entries per entrant.  A pair is considered as a single entry unless each item is individually priced. Fee must accompany entry form. Entrants must nominate a category for each entry.

  2. Free Entry for Youth under 13, Youth 13 to 18 and All Abilities categories.

  3. A Commission of 25% is charged on all sales.

  4. Delivery - Entries are to be delivered to the Leongatha Memorial hall, Cnr McCartin and Michael Place, Leongatha on Tuesday 9 January 2024  from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. unless prior arrangements have been made. Posted entries should be addressed to Leongatha Rotary Club, PO Box 152, Leongatha, Vic. 3953 and include return postage.

  5. Entries must be delivered free of charge and any cost of return will be charged to the Exhibitor.

  6. Collection - Entries must remain on display until 4.00 p.m. on Saturday 3 February 2024 (unless sold and authorised to be taken) and are to be collected between 9:00 a.m. and 12.00 p.m. on Sunday 4 February 2024. Entries not collected will be subject to a storage fee of $10 unless prior arrangements have been made.

  7. All entries must be for sale, be original work produced since January 2021 and not shown previously in this show.

  8. The Maximum Size of any 2D work shall not exceed one square metre including frame.

  9. No entry shall be eligible for more than one prize (except people's choice).

  10. Paintings and photographs must be SUITABLY EQUIPPED TO BE HUNG WITH WIRE OR CORD ATTACHED ACROSS A SOLID BACK AND BE CAPABLE OF HOLDING THE WEIGHT OF THE WORK.

  12. All entries must be marked on the back with the artists name, address, title of work, category and price.

  13. The organiser reserves the right to reject any entry.

  14. The organiser will be responsible for the hanging or display of entries and the organisers decision will be final and not open to discussion.

  15. The organiser will exercise reasonable care in handling works but will not be responsible for any loss, damage or catalogue errors.

  16. The Exhibitor must permit entries to be photographed/recorded for newspapers, television, internet and Social Media for publicising the exhibition.

  17. Photography - All images must have been taken by the Entrant. Images must have a photographic origin and entrants must hold the copyright for the images. Artistic manipulation to enhance the original image is acceptable in all categories. Eg burning, dodging, cropping, colour correction, sharpening, cloning, high dynamic range (HDR) and stitched panoramas.

  18. Digitally Modified Photo entries are a combination of more than one image or where the artist has substantially changed the original image.

  19. Monochrome Photo entries include colour or B&W images converted to continuous tone greyscale and single colour toned images (like sepia, selenium, etc)

  20. All paintings must be dry when delivered for inclusion in the show

  21.  The Judge's decision will be final.

  23. In submitting an entry the artist or their representative confirms that they have read, acknowledged and accepted the conditions of entry.

  24. This show is not acquisitive

HANGING REQUIREMENTS

Paintings and photographs must be suitably equipped to be hung with wire attached across a solid back and be capable of holding the weight of the work and marked on the back with name, address, title, category and price.
